Mean Reversion traders need a journal that captures both strategy execution and psychology. Here's what to track, what to look for, and how to turn your mean reversion data into a genuine trading edge.

Mean reversion trades the idea that price returns to an average after extreme moves. It's the opposite of trend following — buying dips and selling rips. The danger is catching falling knives.

Track the indicator reading when you entered (RSI level, standard deviation from VWAP, etc.) and the actual reversion amount. Many mean reversion traders discover their entries are too early — they buy the dip before the real bottom.

Mean reversion journal insight: most traders enter at 1 standard deviation but the profitable entries are at 2+ standard deviations. Your journal reveals whether you're entering at extreme enough levels.

Key metric: win rate by deviation from mean at entry. The further from the mean, the higher the win rate — but only up to a point where the move is actually a trend change, not a deviation.
